Weekend Beauty & Makeup Essentials

Hey guys! So this weekend I’m going to visit my best friend at her university, and I thought I’d show you what I’m packing! Since I’m only going for 3.5 days, and since I’m trying to pack light, I’m only bringing to bare essentials!

My essentials!

Dove GoFresh deodorant, The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Lotion SPF 15

Deodorant and face moisturizer are obvious essentials! I especially like this moisturizer because it’s SPF 15, so my face also gets some sun protection.

Maybelline Illegal Length mascara, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Sweetheart, Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer

Since I’m not going anywhere fancy or anything I’m only bringing my most used makeup products. On normal days, I just throw on some mascara and concealer, and if I’m feeling fancy I’ll put on some lip colour. I really like this Revlon lip crayon because it’s super easy to put on, it stays on super well, and this colour is amazing! And my Rimmel stick concealer has the best coverage out of all of my concealers, so I always take it with me on trips!

Bath & Body Works Mad About You eau de toilette, Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller

I’m also bringing another concealer, for when my dark circles aren’t as bad, or for layering if they’re really bad! And this perfume is my favourite at the moment – it’s almost empty already! – and it’s small size makes it perfect for bringing on trips.

Key necklace from Chinatown in NYC, white rose studs from Forever 21

Last up is jewellery! I don’t usually wear jewellery, but I like bringing a few basic pieces with me just incase I need to dress up an outfit, or for if I’m feeling fancy!

So those are all of the beauty/makeup products and accessories that I’m bringing with my on my weekend trip! What are some of your essentials when travelling? Tell me in the comments!

Nail Polish Review: Maybelline Color Show Metallics

Hey guys! For today’s post I’m just going to do a little nail polish review of a nail polish that I got for Christmas, which is from Maybelline’s Color Show Metallics line in 100 Navy Narcissist.

Maybelline Color Show Metallics in Navy Narcissist, along with my Revlon base coat and Seche Vite top coat

I really love dark blue nail polishes as I think they look sophisticated without being boring. I found that the colour of this nail polish is really similar to that of my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri 320 Co-Bolt Blue, and I think I prefer my Sally Hansen one. The consistency of the Maybelline nail polish was a bit thick, and I found that if I wasn’t careful, it would streak or clump together, which made it somewhat difficult to get an even layer. I only had to do one coat, which was nice, and it seemed to dry pretty quickly. However, when I then went to put on my topcoat, I found that if I didn’t use enough topcoat, the blue polish would streak even more. Overall, I have little streaks on 8/10 nails, although some of them are so small that you can’t really see them.

Some little streaks in the nail polish :$

Maybe it was just my nail polish that is a little messed up (maybe because it froze sometime during my winter break travels?) but I’m not too sure I’d recommend this nail polish. The colour is really nice and shiny, but putting it on is a bit of a hassle, as you have to worry about streaking. In the future, I think I’m just going to stick with my Sally Hansen Co-Bolt Blue nail polish.

Have any of you guys tried out this nail polish / had similar problems? Tell me in the comments below! Also, if you have any suggestions for nail polish reviews / tutorials that you want me to do, tell me in the comments, as I’m always open to suggestions :)

Nail Polish Review: Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots

Hello everyone! For today’s post I’m going to review a nail polish from Maybelline’s new Color Show collection! I picked up #95 Blue Marks the Spot from the Polka Dots collection a while back, and only recently had the chance to try it out, so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you!

Seche Vite Top Coat and Maybelline Colour Show Polka Dots in 95 Blue Marks the Spot

Since I’ve never tried a nail polish like this one, it took me a little while to figure out how to apply it so that it would stay on my nail. The polish is pretty much that blue colour, and all of the little dots that you see are actual little pieces that come out on the brush, and you have to brush it on so that the dots are evenly distributed. Once I got the hang of it, this nail polish was fairly easy to apply, and I put on two coats to give it a more layered and opaque look. You could do one coat, but it might be a little bare looking.

I finished off with the top coat from Seche Vite, and voila! I really like the effect of this nail polish – it’s interesting without being too attention grabbing, and I like the colour too. The only problem that I had, is that instead of chipping, the nail polish on one nail would just fall off, all in one go. It might have been that I used an old, bad quality base coat, but it’s been 4/5 days since I put this nail polish on, and only 4 nails are still on. Again, it might be due to my base coat, but if you’re going to try this nail polish, know that you might have to deal with the nail polish falling off, one nail at a time.

Overall, I really like this nail polish, and would recommend that you try it! I just hope that when you try it, the nail polish actually stays on your nails!
